A Life of Love
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. 1 John 3:16
This is one of my favorite verses. But truly living a life of love is the ultimate sacrifice, so hardly anyone ever does. I don’t think it’s something you can permanently attain, not like learning to ride a bicycle or becoming an adult. It is in every decision we make, every day. It’s not a one time thing. To follow Jesus’s example, we have to give up our rights. I know that I am absurdly far away from living out that verse at this point in time. I can be very mean and shallow and rude to people I don’t like and even to people that I do sometimes. But I am confident in this, that Jesus IS changing me, through experiences and time and choices. He’s never given up on me, and that is the one thing that should keep me from giving up on myself.
