Psalm 100

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

During devotions at school today, one of my students read Psalms 100 and talked about the amout of time we spend talking to God. She said that one time she heard that the average person will spend 6 months of their entire life praying, but spend an entire 3 years eating. Her challenge was for us to spend more time in prayer, communing with God.

Her presentation really struck home with me. Since I’ve been gone, my life has been thrown out of whack and I’ve begun a completely different and equally amazing life. However, in the start of this new exsistence, it’s absolutely critical that I get my defining priorities straight. I haven’t set aside much if any time to just listen to God. After today, I feel like I can’t just ignore God’s calling. Please pray that I would consistently put God first in my day and that my heart would be opened with compassion and overflowing love for everyone around me.
