First Day

Well I at least know that I won’t have any trouble waking up in the mornings. I woke up at 6 today (5 US time), and I’m happy to say that it even sounds beautiful here. Last night wasn’t very fun, I’ve never really been away from home before and I was feeling pretty lonely. I like my room; there’s not a lot in it, but it’s cute. There was a tiny gecko in my bathroom, and a few more outside. I really hope I learn Spanish fast, because otherwise I will be seriously handicapped whenever we go to town. Speaking of town, Honduran driving is crazy. People take up the entire road and only move at the last second to not get hit. People who are supposed to be in the same lane will both make a left turn onto a busy street side by side. They both try and fit in the same lane until one of them moves in front. The other person doesn’t really stop even then, they just wait a few inches from the back bumper of the other car for them to get ahead. Everyone seems to drive goodnaturedly, however. Horns are used for passing on the right and even though everyone cuts eachother off, it’s just expected I guess. It’s actually really exciting and fun to be driven. I just hope this lonliness doesn’t last too long.
